Young People

Everyone’s a critic.

It seems like everyone in your life has an opinion about what you should do or how you should behave.

You’re so moody! You’re TOO MUCH! You need to get it together!

Is that the best you can do??? That’s not good enough! You need to try harder.

It’s enough to make you want to crawl under a rock.

Sometimes, it’s hard to know where to turn…

Lately it feels like older is not always wiser.

Those that should be offering you guidance seem more out of touch with today’s realities than anyone.

You need a way to pick your way through the minefield of pressure, emotional exhaustion, and overwhelm of choices to a quieter place where you feel happy just to be.

A Place Where You can be You

You’ve landed here knowing you need more support, more help, more something to get through this. Great! Here I am… and therapy can be that support.

Together, through our work, you can find a sense of calm and comfort. You’ll develop an ability to confidently make decisions about what you want and need, and take steps to implement a plan to achieve your goals.

We will work together to strengthen your relationships with others, helping you feel connected and well loved.

I can help you strengthen your interpersonal boundaries so that those relationships feel safe and secure, allowing you to say no whenever you want to, without guilt.

And say “Yes!” when you want to – without hesitation.

A note for parents of younger, young adults:

The teen years are tough. You recognize all those challenges that your teen is about to face.

Parenting through them can feel like walking a tightrope when your best efforts don’t consistently help your teen grasp the tools they need to navigate the journey.

Social norms, social media, sports, sexuality, family life, friends, future success, fears of failure… each can be a point of overwhelm along the way.

It’s a time in life where we want to be loved.

But we also crave the space to define ourselves. It’s a hard time to negotiate. It’s good to remember that neither you nor your teen have to face it alone.

Curiosity, courage, and determination (which sometimes looks like stubbornness, eh?) already lurk inside each of us.

Through our work, those strengths and others can be used to move things forward and build the bright and hope-filled future you’ve always dreamt of for your teen.
